Julie Terry was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.
She went on to graduate from the University of Michigan,
earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989.
Julie received an academic scholarship to attend St.
Thomas Law School. While attending St. Thomas, she was a
member of Black Law Students Association, the Catholic
Lawyers Guild, the Appellate Moot Court and Trial Court
Teams, and the Peter Faye Inns of Court. Julie served as
Summer Federal Law Clerk to the Honorable William
Hoeveler in 1992 and as a law clerk for the City of
Miami Attorney's Office and Florida Department of
Transportation during 1993-1994 years.
After graduating from St. Thomas, Julie went on to serve
as an Assistant State Attorney under Katherine Fernandez
Rundle. Subsequent thereto, she began practicing
insurance defense with an emphasis in premises liability
and bodily injury.
Julie has established herself as an insurance defense
trial attorney with an emphasis in automobile liability
personal injury protection litigation and insurance law.
She has worked as in-house counsel for a major national
insurance company, wherein she was responsible for the
investigation and defense of personal injury protection
litigation files involving fraud, coverage, and breach
of contract issues. Additionally, she has personally
tried more than forty criminal and civil jury and bench
trials.
Most recently, she has engaged in the investigation and
practice of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claims. She
has been designated and used as a Attorney Fee Expert.
Her memberships include the Florida Bar and is admitted
to practice for the United States District Court for the
Southern District of Florida. She is a member of the
Dade County Bar, Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Assn., Gwen S.
Cherry Black Women Lawyers Assn., National Association
of Professional Insurance Investigators (NSPII) and
Medical Claim Defense Network (MCDN).
