John Eckard II and Miguel Roura of Roig Lawyers to Conduct a 5-Hour Law and Ethics Update in Maitland, Florida on June 25, 2014

Roig, Tutan, Rosenberg, Martin & Stoller, P.A., a minority-owned law firm dedicated to serving clients across seven offices throughout Florida, is pleased to announce that partner John Eckard II and associate Miguel Roura will teach a 5-Hour Law and Ethics Update for the Allstate Insurance office in Maitland on June 25, 2014.

This new mandatory continuing education course, required under recent changes to Florida Statute 626.2815, will be strictly enforced by the Florida Department of Financial Services as of October 1, 2014. Topics covered in the seminar include insurance law updates, ethics for insurance adjusters and claims professionals, disciplinary trends and case studies, industry trends, and other similar insurance-related topics deemed relevant to legally and ethically carrying out the responsibilities of the insurance license granted.

Overall, Florida’s expanded education requirements apply to individuals licensed to engage in the sale of insurance or adjustment of insurance claims in the state for all lines of insurance for which an examination is required for licensing and to each insurer, employer, or appointing entity.

John and Miguel, as well as other attorneys with the firm, are available to teach the 5-Hour Law and Ethics Update for insurance adjusters and claims professionals in locations across Florida.

About John E. Eckard, II. John is a partner in the Orlando office. He has been with the firm since 2012, where he concentrates his practice in the field of insurance defense. John previously served as a Trial Attorney, in-house with one of the nation’s largest insurance carriers. Prior to joining the firm, John maintained his own law practice where he focused on aviation law, insurance defense, and other civil litigation matters. John is a U.S. Army Reserves, Commissioned Officer. He earned his B.S. in Aeronautics from Dowling College, with a minor in Military Science from Hofstra University, and juris doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Board Law Center.

About Miguel R. Roura. Miguel is an associate in the Tampa office of Roig Lawyers, where he concentrates his practice in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and insurance fraud litigation involving Special Investigation Units (SIU) within insurance carriers. Prior to joining the firm, Miguel was an associate attorney in the St. Petersburg office of Banker Lopez Gassler P.A. He also served as Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, and as a judicial intern with the Honorable James D. Whittemore, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. He speaks and writes frequently on PIP/No-Fault topics. Miguel holds a Juris doctorate from Stetson University College of Law, and a B.A., Criminology, cum laude, from the University of Florida.
