Roig Lawyers, a minority-owned multi-practice litigation law firm dedicated to serving clients across seven offices throughout Florida, congratulates Nelson C. Bellido, managing partner of the Miami office, on receiving the 2014 Duke University Hispanic/Latino Alumni Association (DUHLAA) Award for outstanding service.

Nelson was presented the award by the Board of Directors of the Duke Hispanic/Latino Alumni Association at Duke University’s Scharf Hall during Homecoming Weekend at the Keynote Luncheon attended by Duke President Richard Brodhead and featured Maria Cardona, CNN, CNN Español, and Univision political contributor. Nelson was also honored for his service on the field at the Duke University homecoming football game at halftime.

“As the current Chair of DUHLAA, Nelson’s leadership ability has been instrumental in making this alumni board what it is today.  In Miami, Nelson has demonstrated his civic leadership through his involvement in local affairs and boards.  Most importantly, his devotion to Duke is without question.  Nelson was the president of the Duke Club of South Florida from 1999 to 2011.  President Brodhead even refers to him as “Mr. Duke Miami”,” said Tim Mendoza, Treasurer of the DUHLAA and Duke Alum (Class of 1992).

Nelson is a graduate of Duke University (B.A., 1989) and the University of Florida College of Law (J.D., 1992).
