Nelson C. Bellido of Roig Lawyers Appointed to the Duke Alumni Association Board of Directors

Roig Lawyers, a minority-owned multi-practice litigation law firm dedicated to serving clients across seven offices throughout Florida, is pleased to announce that Nelson C. Bellido, managing partner of the Miami office, has been appointed to a 2-year term on the Duke Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Members are either nominated by other alumni or appointed by their individual graduate or professional schools. The business of the board is to keep apprised of and be advised on the programs and services offered by the university’s Office of Alumni Affairs. Board members support the mission of the association engaging, connecting, and celebrating alumni and friends of Duke University by helping to guide the Office of Alumni Affairs, serving as formal and informal representatives of the university, and sharing their expertise to further the Duke Alumni Association and university projects and programs.

Nelson is heavily involved with Duke University. He serves as National Chairperson of the Duke Hispanic/Latino Alumni Association, which mentors Duke undergraduate and graduate students.  In addition, Nelson serves as Chairperson of the Duke Alums Engage program in South Florida.  The Duke Club of South Florida in conjunction with the Duke Hispanic/Latino Alumni Association will host the inaugural Fall Duke Alums Engage Event at the Miami Children’s Museum, November 1, 2014, at the Miami Children’s Museum.

At Roig Lawyers, Nelson’s main areas of practice are in complex commercial litigation, insurance defense litigation, insurance fraud special investigations, finance law, products liability and shareholder and partnership disputes. He also has experience in shipping and trade laws, construction litigation, real estate litigation, employment litigation, complex asset recovery and creation of business documents. He has experience litigating cases in state and federal court and arbitration proceedings.

Nelson has successfully defended Fortune 100 companies in trial matters involving premises liability, products liability, warranty claims, fraud, and breach of contract. He serves companies in industries involving insurance, retail, finance, chemical, petroleum, technology, and other service providers in the preparation of business contracts and litigation matters.

Nelson is a graduate of Duke University (A.B., 1989) and the University of Florida College of Law (J.D., 1992).
