ROIG Lawyers Announces Five Attorney Promotions in Several Offices

Roig, Tutan, Rosenberg, Martin & Stoller, P.A., a minority-owned litigation law firm, has announced five new partners. These promotions are a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work these attorneys put into the firm on a daily basis.

John E. Eckard, II, has been promoted to partner in the Orlando office of Roig Lawyers.  John has been with the firm since 2012, where he concentrates his practice in the field of insurance defense.  John has previously served as a Trial Attorney, in-house with one of the nation’s largest insurance carriers. Prior to joining the firm, John maintained his own law practice where he focused on aviation law, insurance defense, and other civil litigation matters.  John is a U.S. Army Reserves, Commissioned Officer.  John earned his B.S., in Aeronautics from Dowling College, with a minor in Military Science from Hofstra University and Juris doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Board Law Center.

Abbi S. Freifeld has been promoted to partner in the Deerfield Beach office of Roig Lawyers.  Abbi has been with the firm since 2007.  Abbi concentrates her practice in the areas of insurance defense and the defense of PIP/No-Fault insurance claims with a focus on Special Investigative Unit (SIU) claims, fraud investigations, and defense of hospital suits.  Abbi has represented some of Florida’s largest automobile insurers in the defense of PIP/No-Fault claims in State Courts throughout Florida.  Additionally, Abbi has conducted numerous Examinations Under Oath (EUO) on behalf of Florida automobile insurers in the investigation of PIP/No-Fault insurance claims.

Prior to joining the firm Abbi was employed as In-House Counsel for the residential real estate company of Madison Financial Holding Group.  While in law school, Abbi clerked for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich, U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. She also received her certification as a legal intern from the Florida Supreme Court. Abbi earned her B.A., in Political Science, with honors, and a Minor in Criminology from the University of Florida and her Juris doctorate from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

Jenna T. Hackman, has been promoted to partner in the Deerfield Beach office of Roig Lawyers.  Jenna has been with the firm since 2003.  Jenna focuses her practice in the areas of insurance defense, the defense of PIP/No-Fault insurance claims, bodily injury/uninsured motorist, and personal injury claims.  In addition, she assists in the preparation and trial of the firm’s cases along with partner Jeffrey Tutan.

Jenna earned her B.S., in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Barry University and earned her Juris doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center.

Stephen G. Mellor has been promoted to partner in the Deerfield Beach office of Roig Lawyers.  Stephen has been with the firm since 2008.  Stephen‘s main areas of practice are Personal Injury Protection Litigation and Bodily Injury and Premises Liability. He also specializes in the interpretation of out-of-state insurance contracts and the application of Canadian and other substantive State laws to Florida insurance claims.  In addition, Stephen has dealt with complex cases involving Admiralty and Maritime issues and is a member of the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.

Stephen has built a successful career as a business executive prior to becoming an attorney. He served as a regional general manager for Colombian Emeralds International, a large Caribbean-based jewelry retailer, while living in the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands.

Stephen is experienced in real estate management.  He was also President of a land development and real estate company in Freeport, Bahamas, where he acted as legal liaison and risk manager for many real estate transactions.

Stephen earned his B.S., with honors, in Business Administration and Management from Salem State College, Bertolon School of Business, and his Juris doctorate, with a special accreditation in International Law, from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center.

Mark J. Rosehas been promoted to partner in the Deerfield Beach office of Roig Lawyers.  Mark has been with the firm since 2009.  Mark’s main area of practice is insurance defense with a focus on the defense of PIP/No-Fault, bodily injury/uninsured motorist, and homeowner’s insurance claims.   Mark is AV-Preeminent peer review rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  Mark has served as an adjunct professor of business law at Palm Beach State College since 2009 where he teaches “The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business.”  Mark’s recent article Florida’s No-Fault Law and the 2012 Statutory Amendments was recently published in the Trial Advocate Quarterly, (Vol. 31 No. 3, Summer 2012). Mark was a keynote speaker at the 2013 America’s Claims Event in Austin, Texas where he spoke on the topic of Six Sigma and claims management.  Mr. Rose is the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Committee of the Florida Defense Lawyer’s Association.

While in law school Mark served as a federal litigation intern at the U.S. Department of Justice and earned a certificate in Leadership Development. He also served on the American Bar Association’s award-winning Student Leadership Development Committee.

Mark earned his B.S., in Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh and his Juris doctorate from Stetson University College of Law and MBA, in Business Administration, from Stetson University.
